ISO 9001:2015 is the probably the most widely recognised standard. Enabling 'certified' companies / organisations to demonstrate that they conform to the requirements of the International Standard; benefits of this include;
it being an Internationally recognised certification, thus easing cross-border trading;
providing assurance when submitting tender / bids to prospective customers,
as an aid to 'benchmark' against competitors; 'easing' the pre-qualification process, where tenders require certification as a pre-requisite to the bidding process.
The companies / organisations that have voluntarily chosen the ISO route can demonstrate (through the awarding of certification) that their processes are controlled; they demonstrate that they have the capability to provide products or services of a specified standard to their customers. The customers can gain assurance that their suppliers processes are reviewed by independent certified bodies. Typical requirements of ISO 9001:2015 include (but are not limited to) : -
